Morning all. It is 7.30am on Sunday 20th March and the Alloa Half Marathon is just a couple of hours away. I'll be leaving the flat shortly so I'll sign off now and leave the content up to you lot. Exciting.
Check back regularly from 10am to see LIVE updates on my progress.
Not much to report so far this morning, other than that I've eaten some breakfast, consumed coffee and vitamins and reckon I'm more or less ready to go! Look out Alloa, here I come...

2011 to date - miles run: 260.39, parkruns: 3, races: 1, miles biked: 12.85
P.S. Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last week, I've decided to use today's race to participate in Run for Japan, which means I'll be donating a pound a mile from my run to the British Red Cross. I urge you to do something similar.
So, Dave isn't running just yet, but I thought I'd start off the comments by wishing him good luck from my warm, comfy, sunshiney room. Ah, nothing like a nice easy Sunday morning....
ReplyDelete10:07 - one mile in, running faster than planned at 6 minutes 43. And it's starting to rain. Go Dave!
ReplyDeleteSo at 10.04.35 Dave is a pathetic half mile(ish) into the run. Honestly, where's the work ethic? How is he going to catch up to those Kenyans and Nigerians with a pace like that?!? Apparently it's raining a little bit, but otherwise things are 'great'. Right. Well it's all sunshine where I am, and I do like that. I think I go make myself some tea....
ReplyDelete(ahem, I suppose his pace ain't that bad after all ;D)
ReplyDeleteWell, at 10.28, I can tell you his voice mail is working properly....
ReplyDeleteIt's been emotional but, alas, I have a plane to catch (yeah, seriously). Best of luck to Dave with the rest of his run, and to the other livebloggers in trying to get through to him ;) Over and out, runners. xx
ReplyDelete10:30 - currently at four and a third miles and way too hot, covered the first 4 miles in 28 mins 15 seconds which is "a more sensible pace". I don't know about David but I'm already exhausted...
ReplyDeleteRun Dave run!!xx
ReplyDeleteTried to call but it went straight to voicemail.....maybe dave is taking another important call.
ReplyDeleteJust spoke to Dave, just gone through the 8mile mark but our golf outing the other day has not helped him prepare for today. His shoulder is hurting but I am sure he can get through it.xxx
ReplyDeleteDavid says - 'my shoulder hurts and No I'm not OK!' Going too fast but delighted to have set a new PB for 10km. Hard to hear what he said as he is out of breath for some reason and I had to tell him it was me - his Mother!!! Anyhow I THINK he said 43 mins and a 34 seconds.
ReplyDelete10 Miles in 70.48 - "Everything's falling apart", "my legs are falling off" - as well as other breath-less mumblings...he doesn't sound in a good way but at that pace he is set to be close to 1.30 which is a cracking time. Having run the course before though, I know that he is close to/if not on the hill of death that has left many great athletes wishing for a quick and merciful death....good luck old boy
ReplyDelete11:30 - nearly finished, less than half a mile to go...
ReplyDeleteHe has finished!!! He did it so fast that I wasn't ready with my camera! New pb woopwoop!! Xx
ReplyDeleteFinished in a glorious new PB of 1:34:42 (unofficial). Third year PB'ing at Alloa, and third year throwing up all over the place... This time about 200 yards from the finish! Cost me about a minute. Thanks for the chat guys, it's been immense. Full update to follow.
ReplyDeleteHappy running.
Dave
Well done you! Can't wait for the full update.
